I am starting to look into a 308 ar. I am thinking about buying a dpms oracle as a starting point. My plan is a barrel swap, a midwest industries forend, and possibly an ubr to top it off.

My question is, is a rainier arms 18" select barrel a worth while swap?
Also, what are your thoughts on the MI SS series free float tubes?

I have a dpms lr 308. The first thing i did was drop that heavy ass 24 inch ss bull barrel for a rainier select 18 inch. Best decision ever. All the accuracy, half the weight and quite a bit more maneuverable.

Iam in the same boat as you are, new to AR rifles. I bought a DPMS Oracle in 308, Have not shot it yet. But so far very happy with my purchase, all ready switched out handguard, and added swivels.

Thats How I started. Very nice barrel. I went with the 16in. And a few upgrades

Have had my DPMS Oracle 7.62 a few months. Had to change that nasty trigger with a timney. Also changed handguard with a midwest industries quad rail. Not bad for the price.
