Silly questions, admittedly, but probably easy information for someone to provide (and I haven't seen these answers anywhere)
I'm working into my first AR builds, and I think I want to do a 300 BLK upper. But I have questions on how to go about this: 1. I have a 762-SDN-6 that I would like to use, WITHOUT removing the hand guard (sorry honeybadger'ers, but it's gotta easily be swapped with multiple rifles). Will a 7 inch carbine hand guard and an 8.2 barrel give me enough room for it fully seat, but not recess? My calculations/measurements based on my current 16 barrel seems like it should, but not sure if anyone has tried this/has pictures/measurements to provide) What about a 7.6 inch hand guard (looking at the Samson EVO line-up). 2. What is the buffer/spring combo that works best with a 300 BLK SBR? Probably run subsonic more than sonic ammo, but want the versatility(the whole point of 300 BLK). Thanks! |

Your combo should work. Mine is a 10.2" with a 9" rail: http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t120/adam_perdue/c81e0b1d-2cba-49ba-b70d-4ae7e13222d0_zpsb49dadf1.jpg I use spikes t2 buffer That gun is beautiful! If I had the funds I'd by yours/build something very similar haha. |

I am running standard weight Springco buffer springs in both my 300 shorty uppers.
The Springco springs are color coded. White is the color for standard weight carbine springs. I am running white springs and ST-T1 buffers. They T1 is a 3 oz. version of the heavier ST-T2 buffer. Built with the same super quiet tungsten powder and a very nice product in its own right. Obviously you want the heaviest buffer that will cycle reliably in your upper. When I tried the heavier "blue" springs and ST-T2 buffers my guns cycled ok, but failed to lock open on the last round about 25% of the time. |
