Hello!

I am from Europe, and I am required to use the OA 10 ( Oberland Arms 10 ), if I want a .308 Ar.

No Choice.

It´s a DPMS / SR 25 type lower, which is fine, as PMags and others fit.

But the Upper seems to be NOT DPMS / SR 25 type.

As I want to buy spare parts, I do not know, which ones will fit. Oberland Arms won´t answer questions in that regard.

As the Firing pin has a spring on it: which 308 type Rifle uses an FP with a spring???

Armalite?

Which things should I check, to know, which spare parts will fit my Upper or BCGroup?

Will an AR 10 BCG fit in a DPMS type upper????

TIA, Hermann

I have a DPMS LR-308 AP4 (Carbine version-Quad Rail, 6 position stock and 16" Barrel, which is actually 14.5inches with a 1.5inch flash suppressor...no idea why they did that). On my LR-308 on the underside of the barrel and find where it's stamped, besides rate of twist "DPMS" is stamped maybe this will confirm what type of upper you have, a pic would help.

I think with an OA gun you will use typical parts, except for the bolt carrier group.

Here is a link to a pic I just took of my LR-308 where "DPMS" is stamped on the barrel.

Sorry I couldn't help more, I wouldn't put any parts in it until I knew what it was. Armalite and DPMS parts I don't think should be mixed. This particular rifle, unlike AR-15s don't have the same modular standard spec lower and uppers.

Hope this helps,
John

DPMS does NOT use a spring on the firing pin.  However, the Armalite AR-10 does.
You CAN use an Armalite BCG and FP in the DPMS pattern upper receiver though and you CAN use a DPMS bolt in the Armalite bolt carrier.  You MUST use the Armalite firing pin with spring though if you use the Armalite bolt carrier, even if you use the DPMS bolt in the build.  My LR-308 based .358 HDH uses an Armalite bolt carrier and firing pin but DPMS bolt and cam pin and you should use the DPMS barrel extension if you use the DPMS bolt.  I do not know if not mixing a DPMS bolt with an Armalite barrel extension (or vice-versa) is a hard and fast rule though but why chance it?

THANKS!

Very interesting!

I can´t see the underside of the barrel, as a Free Float carbon handguard ( of rather large Diameter ) is mounted.

My Interest are the correct spare BOLT parts!

I think I´ll look for Armalite ...

OK, no you cannot use an Armalite bolt in a DPMS Bolt Carrier, according to Armalite the Bolt Carriers have different specs. You can use an armalite Barrel on a DPMS, however, you should use the BAT. However, the actual experts on this site consistently advise to not mix armalite and DPMS, use what you've got.  Also, I have a free float barrel the stamp is maybe an inch behind the barrel's tip (2 inches if you have a Flash suppressor or compensator(  http://50.6.106.226/picit/1383452084.4255.iPicit.jpg ). so the tube shouldn't obstruct however it is stamped.

I would suggest reading this thread....

As far as this forum goes, I hardly ever get involved, however, I love reading it, there are SO many extremely knowledgeable Firearm experts on here and it's rare for me to post because someone who I KNOW is more knowledgeable than myself has already answered, this is not a putdown on anyone else, it simply means I don't know them well....Anyway, this is a common question, there is A LOT about this in the Archives, in one thread on AR15.com I found this post.

BE VERY CAREFUL MIXING THESE TWO!!!

The Armalite AR10 bolt and barrel extension have different dimensions than the DPMS-type bolt and barrel extension.

The two, mixed, do not headspace correctly. I know, I have tried.

If this company has come up with a universal spec, I would absolutely test with headspace gauges.

Many confirmed kabooms years ago from folks / trying to use DPMS bolts in AR10 barrels / vice versa. They are very close, but not close enough.
