I'm not sure where to post this question but...
Has anyone tried IMR-4831 with jacketed bullets in a 308? |
| It doesn't seem to be a very good fit for the .308, Hodgdon doesn't list it any more but my old No. 26 manual has some loads for it. Standard bullet weights around 150 to 165 grains are significantly slower than with other powders like 4895 or BL-C(2); with 200-220 grain bullets it does catch up though. |
| While I use H4831 (similar to IMR 4831) to good effect with heavier bullets (180 & 190 gr) in my 30-06 and also in my 6mm Remington, I believe that the .308 case capacity is a little small for this powder. You see it frequently used in the middle capacity magnum cartridges. |
