I'm interested in building a 6.8 SPC, but I only have experience in building .223 and .300 Blackout rifles. If possible I would like to just build an upper to go on the .223/.300 Blackout lower that I already have. Both of the uppers that I run on it are SBR uppers and I would like for this one to be also if the gas system is tolerable/will allow it. So my questions are:
1) What parts are different with the 6.8.? 2) What is the difference between 6.8 SPC and 6.8 SPC II and which is better? 3) Can I just build the 6.8 upper to interchange with my other uppers? 4) What magazines will I have to use with the 6.8 cartridge? 5) Can I shoot the 6.8 through my AAC SDN-6 suppressor? I'm sure this topic has been covered numerous times before, but I couldn't find the info/link. If anybody has a good link to the answers of my questions that would be great also. Thanks in advance for any help and sharing the wealth of knowledge with a noob! |

I was going to suggest 68forums. Good. Go to the source OP. Get real info, but in short, bolt, barrel, mags. There is someone in the EE over there with an ARP superbolt, the best there is, for sale from the last run. Not sure when more are coming. Also, there is a ARP Recon barrel 16"( poly groove, 5R, best chamber made, takes the hottest loads , melonited, generally runs speeds that the 20" SS barrels and chrome barrels get ), maybe a complete Recon upper on the EE as well. Remington submitted the wrong chamber dimensions to SAAMI, so they are stuck. SPC II is current manufactured chamber. Think of SPC as .223 and SPC II as 5.56. There is also the ARP chamber, which would be like the Wylde chamber in 5.56. 3) Can I just build the 6.8 upper to interchange with my other uppers? A 6.8 upper will interchange with any other AR upper. 4) What magazines will I have to use with the 6.8 cartridge? I use the C-Products Defense magazines. They are inexpensive ($12-15 for 25 rounders), reliable, and if you reload can accommodate longer OAL's for better performance 5) Can I shoot the 6.8 through my AAC SDN-6 suppressor? I'm not familiar with AAC suppressors, but if it is a .30 cal suppressor you will have no issues, AS LONG AS it has the same thread pitch as your other barrels. I'm sure this topic has been covered numerous times before, but I couldn't find the info/link. If anybody has a good link to the answers of my questions that would be great also. | I'm in the process of building a 6.5 upper (similar to 6.8) to use with my current lower. For 6.5, the differences are the bolt, barrel, and magazine. Since I didn't feel like having to change the bolts back and forth in my BCG, I just bought another complete BCG to use for the 6.5 bolt (As a bonus, I now have a spare 5.56 bolt). It made sense to get another charging handle too, so I can just swap complete uppers. |

I've heard/read a lot of good things about AR Performance, but does anybody advise against this barrel or have any other input on it or have a suggestion for a different one. Also, should I use an adjustable gas block with it if I plan to shoot it suppressed? Thanks. |

Well I went back to that link when I got home yesterday evening to purchase the barrel and bolt to find them sold out. So now I guess I'm looking for barrel suggestions again. Anybody? yeah, those went fast. But e-mail them and see when they expect to be back in stock. and next time don't wait!!! |
