Hey guys, I have a new DPMS Oracle that releases the bolt without depressing the bolt catch. I first noticed it when putting it in the safe with the bolt locked open, no mag. As soon as the stock hit the floor, the bolt slammed home. I tried it a few more times with the same result. At the range, I inserted a loaded mag with the bolt locked open and the bolt would release before the mag was fully inserted. When this happens, it does not feed a round, fortunately. I have been able to replicate the problem several times. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Chris

Normally, the BCG will slam home when you impact the butt.  It is NOT normal for the BCG to go into battery with a simple magazine insertion.  Sounds like your bolt catch plunger & spring needs inspection/replacement.  The channel should be free and clear of burs or debris, and the spring should be of a certain type.  Someone could have installed a spring that is too strong, so it drive the bolt catch into the down position more readily, but this is just a guess.
