I just finished building my Mega Maten set and the bcg will not come back far enough to grab a round out of the mag....???  I took the buffer spring out, reinstalled the buffer then insterted the carrier and it still needs to come back another 1/4-3/8 of an inch?..

The specs are:

PRS stock
AR10 rifle buffer and spring
CMMG carrier
JP enhanced bolt

Please help....I am lost.

My carrrier is 7 13/16" , the carrier with bolt in 8 7/16" and with the bolt out it is 8 3/4".  If that makes any sense.

Is your PRS the ar10 version?

If yes you need a DPMS buffer they are different than the  ar10 or Armalite .

Yes it is for a AR10....,

There is a different buffer?  Let me guess it is shorter....

So your using a CMMG carrier w/ a JP Bolt ?...There might be your problem...The AR-10 and DPMS pattern (CMMG) bolts/carriers  are not compatable AFAIK.

Then JP enhanced comes in a DPMS style, the buffers a different between  Armalite and DPMS

A DPMS 308 rifle buffer is 5.285 inches long, measure the one up are using and see if that is the problem..

You may have a standard ar15 buffer which is longer at 5.875 measure and see what youhave..if its almost six inches that is the problem.

your welcome, the most difficult problems to diagnose in these are buffer. bolt carrier related since there is no standard.

I made the same mistake on the 308 AR I built. Live and learn.
