| You need what's called a thread file. Its square shaped and has different pitches on each side. It will self align to the good threads and clean out the bad ones. A few strokes and it will be like new with very little risk. A die would be difficult to start on a damaged thread. Also a good barrel is not cut with a die so it wont have the correct thread depth. Its possible to do with a die but easier to mess up. A thread file belongs in every toolbox but they are not well known. |
