So I took my Grendel and Beowulf out the other day for their first test drives.  The Grendel had some issues but that's a different thread.  The Beowulf was awesome!

I was a little nervous about the recoil but with the King Armory KA-0450 compensator it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be.  It had a hard kick for sure but not so bad I couldn't shoot several rounds in a row.  I had mounted a Leupold VXR 1.25-4x20 "Hog" scope on it but had forgot to rough sight it in before going to the range so I was hoping I wouldn't put rounds down lane into other peoples targets lol.  Lucky for me it only needed an inch left to be perfect.  Let me tell you the Beowulf with that Leupold VXR Hog scope is an awesome combo!  Sure it was only 30 yards but it was easy to put hole after hole next to each other.  It was amazingly easy to put the "pig plex" reticle on target quickly shot after shot even with that kind of recoil.  Speaking of recoil, the King Armory KA-0450 does a fantastic job of easing the recoil.  Sure it's loud but since I never shot my Wolf without I don't have anything to compare it to.  The compensator did have some back blast and in the range "slot" I'd get a face full of dust and stuff with every shot but in the open I don't think it would be that bad.  Not a single malfunction or problem other than the pain from trying to load the steel magazine (the edges were sharp and it was hard to fill without cutting my thumb).  I would love to be able to take it on a hunt...big hogs would be easy pickin's for the .50,  big bears would be easy (except I love bears and couldn't shoot one unless it was trying to eat me), elk no problem or moose (even a dino-moose wouldn't phase this gun).  So I guess I'm set if were invaded by mooseasaurus's

I figure with all the modifications and add-ons in today's crazy inflated prices it should be worth around $15,000 lol.  Seriously though it wasn't cheap but it was well worth the cost...it's awesome, buy one!!!

The Big Bore ARs are not bad at all in the recoil dept, but they are fun to shoot

I built a stand off plate and attached a limb saver recoil pad and that really cut down the recoil.  With that brake it would make it recoil like a 223

It is amazing how accurate big bore ar's can be . I think the low power scopes are where its at with these guys , I have a leupold mk4 cqt on my socom and love it . I have been eye balling the vx-r patrol rifle scope so thanks for the info on the hog plex . Have you tried the illumination in sun light?
On a side note you might want to try the lancer advanced warfighter mag . I have switched to them exclusively for my ar variants . they load easy and dont have a center rib so you can load a bit longer bullet than a p-mag .

The VX-R "Hog" model scope is beyond sweet.  No, I haven't tried it in bright sunlight yet, I'd be surprised if there were issues.  I'll try one of those Lancer mags...anything would be better than the steel one that came with it.  I was going to use Pmags but if the Lancer mags work I'd rather do that so it's easier to keep them separate.  Thanks for the tip!

Are you using the Lancer on a 50 Beowulf??
Did you need to alter the feed lips or ??

Nice gun.  Note that some people have reported issues with collapsble stocks collapsing with recoil.  That Magpul locks up, so it should be more resistant, but you still may want to pop the stock off every once and awhile to check the lug and see if it's deforming.

1stID, I used to have that issue every once in a while with a stock collapsible stock. I've since gone with a Mako recoil reducing stock and it helped a bit and I haven't had the stock collapse on me anymore since

That's a good tip thanks.  I had read about the same thing before putting mine on but most of the cases I read said the Magpul CTR help up extremely well.  I'll start checking it after every shooting session just to be sure.  If I have problems I'm going with the Mako recoil reducing stock.

no I am using it on a 458 socom . the p-mags are good magazines for 5.56 but they have a ridge down the middle so when using a variant like the 300 blk , 450 bushmaster , 458 socom or 50 wulf , the ridge can hamper bullet length and cause feed problems . the lancer does not and no I didnt have to adjust the feed lips grind a half moon or anything , just load and shoot .

In reguards to the magpul ctr stock I have had one on my socom for a little over 5 years with way over 1000 rounds down range and no issue at all with the stock collapsing . the only negative I can say is I decided to look like one of those rugged old guys and grew a nice grizzled looking goatee and the ctr would pluck some facial hair from time to time . A .25 cent bic razor fixed that issue.
