I have had a DPMS LR308B for a few years now and mainly just shoot my bolt guns.  We all know the trigger is horrid, and since I really don't shoot it much anyway, I thought about trying the 15-minute trigger job where you cut the hammer spring and bend the trigger spring.  I was just wondering about having light primer strikes if I do this?  Does this mod work dependably on the 308 platform?

I had a Bill Springfield trigger in my 308, has the yellow JP springs.  While the trigger pull was vastly improved, I had light primer strikes on surplus ammo (it was fine with commercial ammo).  The fix was to put a standard hammer spring back in, which mostly negated the original improvements.  You may potentially have the same issues with the cut and bent spring.

If you truly want reliability with a nice trigger pull, spend the 15 minutes installing a Geissele SSA-E trigger, that's what I did, it's worth every penny (all 20,000 of them.......)

Good to know.  Thanks.

I've got the Bushmaster LR308 that came with a crap trigger. I changed my out to a a Spike's Nib Battle trigger with yellow/red JP springs. The pull is pretty decent at around 5lbs. I mainly plink with Barnul/Monarch steel cased & might get one LPS out of 100 rounds. Hornady steel match runs great too.

I'd just buy a new one, or at least the JP springs, I noticed with my standard AR trigger that one side started to wear faster after cutting the springs.

JP springs and do a fluff and buff, personally won't cut or bend anything.  A set screw threaded up the pistol grip screw hole may take up some noticeable creep.

+10 on the Geissele trigger.  Expensive and WORTH it, every penny.

If you are gonna spend 15 minutes and hack up some springs why not just get an ALG combat trigger and save your self the frustration......

My vote is for AR Gold

feels just like my 1911 target guns, like a electronic micro-switch.
