My new King Armory KA-0450 muzzle brake just arrived yesterday and so as soon as I get the barrel threaded the rifle will be done but.....I had planned to replace the standard A2 buttstock (Alexander Arms) with a Magpul CTR w/Magpul Enhanced recoil pad (which I've already bought) but now I'm thinking I should use an Ace skeleton stock instead.
I'm just not sure which one I want...the CTR is plenty strong and is length adjustable but requires switch buffer tubes and all that (which I've already bought) while the Ace skeleton stock just seems to look awesome on Beowulfs IMO plus I wouldn't have to swap buffer tubes and stuff because the Ace and the current A2 stock are so similar (I think...please correct me if I'm wrong). So if this was your rifle would you choose the collapsible CTR or the fixed Ace skeleton? Currently she's an Alexander Arms upper and lower, 16" barrel (soon to be equipped with a KA-0450 muzzle brake, flat top, Daniel Defense Omega 9.0 rails and a Leupold VX-R 1.25-4x20 Hog scope. |

Quoted: Well, Both are good options, but I actually like this option better! http://www.themakogroup.com/product_p/gl-shockcp.htm I used to run a Skeleton, then switch to a CTR, but I like this one much better! Very good stock, I use it myself, just don't buy it there. Save some money. With riser Without riser |
| It says it absorbs recoil...you guy that use them how much reduction do you think it has? Since whichever stock I choose will be going on a Beowulf reducing recoil is a big selling point. The KA-0450 should help a lot but if I could reduce even more that would be great. |

I often shoot 100 rounds of Beowulf, and did so without this stock as well. Its just much more pleasant with it! If you want to really see a difference, use the Mako stock and add a LimbSaver pad over it. It becomes more of a "push" than a "slap". |

Does the ACE require new buffer tube and stuff when going from the Alexander Arms A2 stock or will it slip right on the buffer tube?
The only other concern I have doesn't really apply to guys and that's makeup coming off onto the foam part. When I'm done shooting my AR's I have to wipe the makeup off the cheek weld area on my stock. It's not a problem on a hard surface but I'm concerned it may not clean off the foam leaving it perma-smudged. |

I would not go with the CTR. I tested out my Beo upper this weekend on my only lower which has the CTR on it. After 20 rounds I took off the stock to look a the buffer tube for damage and it was already egging out the detent hole that the stock was locked into.
I'm going to build another lower with either the Magpul fixed rifle or the ACE stock, Fo Sho. |

What receiver extension/buffer tube are you using? I like adjustable pull. If a Mil Spec 7075 receiver extension/buffer tube won't stand up to the recoil (which would surprise me), either the Magpul UBR or Ergo F93 should. |

Mine is a commercial tube that came with a PSA lower build kit ( I'm not knocking PSA by any means). Maybe a milspec will handle it better YMMV.
