Looking around for a muzzle brake for my 7.62x39 ar pistol.  Anyone have any links to a short one in 1/2-28 threads.  I haven't had much luck. thanks

Sorry, no links, and I'd be surprised that it has 1/2x28 threads.  Every .30 barrel I've seen has 5/8x24 threads.  There are short flash hiders that look just like the A2 style for the .223 –– I bought four by mistake.

It has the same threads as my standard 5.56 ar.  I put the A2 5.56 one on there to test it.  I may be wrong on what thread that is however.

Gentry offers 7.62 brakes in 1/2-28.  No personal experience with them, just ran across them once when researching something else.

Ive heard that A2 flash suppressors are big enough to run 7.62 through, is this true?  Also can i just drill out a 5.56 muzzle break or does someone need to do that on a lathe for me??

Conventional wisdom says you want the bore/opening of the muzzle device to be at least .030" over actual bullet diameter.

.311" bullet + .030 = .341"

You can use a 11/32 drill bit (.343") to check your clearance.  If the bit will pass through the muzzle device, you're safe with a bullet.

You might do it yourself, but if you don't want to I had ADCO drill out a Sabre extended A2 1/2x28 5.56 flash hider when they cut down a 7.62x39 barrel for me.
