I'm in the market for a .308 for long distance targets and maybe some hunting. My budget is no more than 2,000. I am looking at the Sig Sauer 716. Is this a good choice? Anything else I should consider?  Appreciate any help or advice.

I went DPMS. At the time, there were only a couple of options.

The SIG looks nice. Gander Mountain has them on sale this week.

So far, quality of all of the 308 ARs seems high.

With Sig's current quality I wouldn't even look twice. Check out an LMT MWS for just over $2k - $2500+/-... Very solid rifle that is both accurate and reliable which is a great combo.

My 716 ran well last week. Had a few FTEs with one mag, but it wasn't cleaned prior to shooting. With my SDN6 it ran prefectly with no adjustments

I agree with this. Check Kentucky Gun Co. They had them for $2300 or so not to long ago.
