I'm sitting here bored and even though my cmmg mk3 runs perfect, i can't leave it alone. I've made it a point to keep this one at 9lbs max with a A1 stock and scope but now i am going to a heavier scope and need to go to a m4 stock/buffer/spring etc to keep it around 9lbs.
The only part i'm missing to do this is the car buffer, after looking at the dpms 308 car buffer i see that my ar15 car buffer is the same length and within .5 oz of the dpms unit, (3.55 ozs). I can add the weight i need to it so thats not a problem. My question is, while i've been playing with ar15's for years this is my first ar 308  and need to touch bases simply to see if theres something i'm missing here in this swap. Thanks, blue.

Standard AR15 carbine buffers are too long for .308s with a standard carbine tube.

For a .308 you need a heavier, shorter buffer: www.heavybuffers.com/ar10carbine

Thanks Slash, i looked at the difference between the two on your site. What threw me was that dpms has their 308 car buffer listed as 3.25" and 3.55 ozs. Unless of course i read it wrong, which has been known to happen. blue

3.25" is too long for a standard 7" carbine tube.
