What would be the best action for a custom build, precision, semi-auto in .308?  Weatherby, Sako or Browning?  Thanks!

Does not compute.

You are crossing two things, precision bolt actions and semi auto precision rifles. Semi auto rifles don't have "action" options.

but to answer your question the action(receiver?) doesn't make a ton of difference as long as it is tight and correct.
the barrel in a semi AR is the most important factor to mechanical accuracy, and the trigger is the most important factor
in shooter accuracy.
put your money into the barrel and trigger, then just get quality components for the rest of the rifle and it will shoot very well.
my DPMS REPR in .260rem with a 26in Kreiger barrel will out shoot just about any bolt rifle

5 shot group at 100 yards

I like the way you roll.

Don't know if I'd have gone 6.5 CM or 6mm CM from GAP.  I'm leaning toward the barrel burner.

I do know that I will not go 260REM.

OP, technically, I think I am allowed {IN THIS WTF CASE} to say that you are an ass or high as a kite...

quit, pass it over to me, my friend.

browning, sako, and weatherby are Fud hunting guns.

Surgeon, Bat, Stolle, Barnard make precision bolt actions.

For a semi .308 you get in line for a LaRue!!!

Yeah.  Ain't nuttin wrong with a .260 Rem.  I think it's the best caliber for a big-boy AR, as a matter of fact, and I've owned 5 different AR10's and DPMS large frame AR's.

I saw this thread i the precision rifle forum.

For an AR style I'd get a Larue, or build one using quality parts on a MA Ten set, it's not the receievers that make the gun shoot well on a an AR style.  I'd shy away from any of the others since there aren't a lot of smiths to work on them.
