I have a 300 blk from CMMG 16" std handguard. So far im not impressed with the accuracy 2" to 3" at 100 yards with a scope on a bench. I have tried different bullet weights from 110 to 220. I know this isn't a target rig but i expected it to do better than that. How much do you guys think a free float handguard would improve accuracy?

Doesn't sound right. Everyone seems to rave at the accuracy of the 300. I have the exact same upper coming at some point. I'll let you know how mine shoots with my reloads.

My best load from a free floated 16 in CMMG upper was 125 ballistic tips using H110 at 2150 fps

My best load was just over  1 MOA for 10 shots.

I'm now using Lilgun , and I might get sub MOA with 110 Vmaxs.  So far the 125 OTMS are just 2 MOA for me.

I have tried 125 gr OTM with 17 thru 18 gr H110. What kind of groups are you getting? what load?

At 125 gr, I load 17.3 of H110. For a 110 gr. I load 19 gr. of H110. The 110 A-Max should give you the best results with a free float of course.

Annealing helped out.  They are not the most accurate things in the world.

But hilarious when you shoot the heavy bullets!  I don't think it would go through a pop can @ 200yds with 220s.

You can see the bullets go down range in the scope.

125 HP and Horndy vmax do pretty good as the other guys already said.

110 vmax and 125 TNT's have been my best accuracy bullet so far.
I'm over max on the charge so I won't post it, but the faster you run them the better it gets.
Right away I was pretty pissed at the 6" groups at 100y, but I have been able to work it down to about 2" now.

I am using factory remington 300 blackout brass already annealed.

This with a factory CMMG 16 inch upper, it has their free floated barrel.  Upper has 300 aprox rounds fired. I was cheating, 16x scope and SSA-E trigger over sand bags.

Did you anneal any of your brass? I heard that makes quite a difference in the 300.

I have the 16" Free Float version of the CMMG.   I'm finding with the 300 Blk you have to tweak your loads to find the best accuracy.   So if your using just factory fodder that may be all you get as far as accuracy.  I'm finding a tenth or two is the difference between  an acurate laod or so so!  LilGun has also become my go to powder for jacketed bullets, IMR4227 for cast.  And like alway each firearm is different, what works for me can be totally diferent for your rifle.

no i am reloading mostly with H110 but some 4227 and 4198 have not been able to find aa1680
H110 is pretty dirty how is lil gun? What bullet are you getting your most accurate loads with?

I'm working on a couple hand loads for the 300 both in hornady 110 vmax. I'm using h110 amd lilgun. I get my barrel from cmmg today so I'll probably get out to shoot in a couple weeks. I haven't annealed the brass, but depending on the first couple trips to the range... I just may. I'll let you know if I find a sweet load with my cmmg barrel. Steve

I put the upper on another lower with a good trigger and my groups are much better now

A good trigger does make a world of difference. It really is amazing how better the groups get sometimes by just swaping out a mil spec trigger for a good aftermarket one...
