Im pretty much settled on getting my first .308 AR rifle.

Iv pretty much decided on a LAR-8 Standard A4(308A1288X) since I will need to use preban magazines if I want anything highcap

What Id like to change/add to the rifle:

PRS (I am also looking for a lighter weight alternative that is AWB compliant)

permanently attach spikes dyna-comp extreme(ADCO)

free float tube hand guard (JP Enterprise)

low profile gas block

Extended charging handle(suggestions?)

Flute entire barrel(ADCO)

Low profile larue rings

Undecided Vortex Scope

If anyone has input/suggestions please let me know.

ETA: What length handguard would I need in order to use the standard railed gas block

The PRS you mention will require a 1" spacer to work on the LAR-8, otherwise the cheek piece won't clear the charging handle if it raised at all.

The DPMS spacer I used on mine

IMO the low Larue rings will be too low..... I am using a regular LT104 on mine and even with it I still have to run the cheek piece on my PRS all the way down.

I had a prs stock on mine and did not like it . to bulky and clumsy for me . I put  an a1 stock on mine since I use it for hunting and the shorter stock helps with heavier hunting clothing. I went a different direction than most and dumbed mine down . post pics when you get your done.

Thanks for the pictures. Which vortex is that? How much did it run you?

I REALLY want a side charging rifle but Ill be settling for the LAR-8 with extended charging hand

The hardest part seems to be finding a RRA dealer that will help me work around the NYS ban and not charge crazy prices.

I cant seem to find other stocks that might work.

Are there any others out there that I can have pinned but also have a adjustable cheek piece?

The Vortex I have is the Viper PST 6x24-50 SFP and it around $749.......I like it a alot.
It is not a small scope, though it does look right on my 26" barreled rifle even without the included sunshade put on.

Like I said it really doesn't look out of place on my long ass rifle

Im thinking about maybe trying the larue RISR on my rifle. Pin the stock at the length I need.
