Yes, that is very nice. Can't wait to see some good velocities from some choice hand loads. How fast dou you think you can push a 110 accubonds and 120 SST? There is a new Berger 140VLD being loaded from SSA soon, and it will be around 2500fps or just above from a 20". It's been tested at 2400fps from a 16". Art from SSA says that is right at 57Kpsi. The AR with the 5.56Nato loads run around 62K and some are a bit higher. I like to be less than 60K though, and really closer to 55K for high volume shooting, but if you were shooting a full auto with standard m193/m855 etc, those are at 62k. I run most of the 110s around 2650-2700fps from my ARP 16", so you should see at least 2800fps there. The Wilson is loaded to 2700fps from a 16". I do get more velocity from the Hornady 110 OTM than from the Nosler. The 120SST, factory Hornady load is listed from a 16", but the guys are getting 2580fps from the factory with the 20" barrels. You should be around 2600-2650fps and still be under 55K psi with AA2200. Best thing to do though is to go over to 6.8 forums and check out the load data section. Good info on this site can be obtained from EWP, and HTR ( hi tech rancher ). |

nice. looks great. is this the same Elkbow thats on highlifter forum? i believe it was that forum i saw your name on, or am i wrong? Use to have a brute force? yes it is, I used to be a moderator on Highlifter, gave it up when I was working on my Masters degree. I can go back whenever I want, but moderators have a tough job for those asking about velocities, the 20" barrel will push over 2600 fps with a 120gr SST. I have some 120's, 110's and 95's loaded to check accuracy. I will chrono them when I get a chance, need to put some rounds downrange first to give it a break it. Been windy as heck here in NM, and don't have a lighting fixture for my chrono for shooting in the tunnel at the range I belong to. |

Enjoy the gun, i love my 6.8. I have been shooting hornady 120gr sst's w/ great success. |

yea the 120 SST's are a great choice. I loaned out one of my 6.8's with the Pulsar N550 to a friend to hunt hogs. He dropped two hogs, one a big boar, with 95gr TTSX's....I like them, but the 120's seem to do really well from others I have seen using them
yep I had a Brute Force, but now have a Polaris 850 EPS, that power steering is the only way to go, especially for me since I have MS |
| took it out to the range, hate the 1 MOA dot in that Vortex scope, it is the cheapy model with illuminated dot which works good for hog hunting at night with a light, or low light conditions, but sucks when I was shooting at a 1 MOA square lol. I shot my 95gr TTSX and 120gr SST loads, didn't like either well. I did a break in using the Tubb's Final Finish, this is the first time I have ever used it, wanted to see how it works. It did make it easier cleaning as I proceeded through the cycle of the 50 rounds I loaded. But gun was only shooting about 1.5 MOA, which I think is mostly due to aiming the dot at the circle which it was covering. Have some other targets i'm going to try, and work on some different charges and loads, I used what I shoot in some of my other 6.8's. |
