I tried out a Spike's 5.45 upper on my M-16 today and I couldn't get through a single magazine without multiple light strikes. I'm running a Wolfe extra power spring but it still doesn't have enough ass to get the job done.
Does anyone know of a heavier spring? |

Had a similar problem with old Russian 7.62. Increasing FP protrusion from (IIRC) .030" to about .038" helped substantially. Added the Wolff spring also and no more problems. |

You need a WOLF spring or an aftermarket trigger that strikes hard like a geissele or something What I did to solve my light strike problem on my 5.45 AR was change to a Jard single stage adjustable trigger with the 50cal heavy hammer spring from there 50cal rifle set up. (I had to call them to get this spring) It only has a 3# trigger pull that is great for taking long range shots. http://jardinc.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=49:ar-15-single-stage&catid=18:ar-15-single-stage&Itemid=6 |
I had fits getting my 5.45 to work 100% until I realized I had the hammer spring in backwards. After that, I tried my 5.45 upper on a different lower with the SD3G trigger and it worked 100% for a tac match. I then swapped in a SD-E trigger and it's been working 100% for the last 400-500 rounds but with a MUCH better pull than with the heavy hammer spring. |
