I have a shit load of 5.45x39 ammo and I am in the process of deceiding between two uppers
Adams Arms AR-15 A3 Base Carbine Gas Piston Upper Assembly 5.45x39mm 1 in 8" Twist 16" Barrel Melonite Treated Chrome Moly Matte with M4 Handguard, Flash Hider, 30-Round Magazine Pre-Ban or Smith & Wesson AR-15 A3 Flat-Top Upper Assembly 5.45x39mm 1 in 8" Twist 16" Barrel Chrome Lined Chrome Moly Matte, A2 Front Sight, Flash Hider, with 30-Round Magazine Pre-Ban m&p15r I do like the idea of a piston because of the carrosive ammo, but i have also heard great reviews about the m&p15r |

Melonite coated barrel, FSB, and gas tube. Nickel Boron barrel extension. The thing is built for corrosive ammo! *I know you said pick between the two you listed, but I felt my input on the Spikes might be usefull. |

Mine crossed over 1k rounds today without yet being cleaned. Nothing has rusted or pitted. This thing is extremely corrosion resistant. I've had more than a few failures to feed with Cproducts mags (junk) but all my ASC mags, which look the same, have been reliable. The upper itself has run flawlessly as well. |

The upper itself has run flawlessly as well. +1 Can't say enough about Spike's midlength upper. I've shot roughly 800 rounds using all ASC mags with ZERO malfunction. . It's dirty as hell but I see no rust anywhere. Probably gonna go through another 800 rounds before I clean it. |
