They usually lock a thread after they move it. BTW current wholesale is $1650 and they don't make the .300 WM anymore. I had one and it did shoot well, but was big. If you get it be sure to get the factory muzzle brake, you will thank me.
why lock it? The AR30 is only worth it in the 338Lapua. There are other lighter and better platforms for he 300WM |

why lock it? We still make the 30M300 Win Mag along with the 30M308 Win and 30M338 Lapua. Long ago we had an option of selling the AR-30 with or without the MB. This is no longer an option. All come with MB's as standard. Suggested retail for the .308 and .300 is $2021.00 and the .338 is $2161.00. If the 30M300 advertised is new then the OP is getting a good deal. TR |

TR don't know if its new, checking it out on the web first. even if used, I think its a safe bet that it has not been run like an ar15. from what I can find on the web. the 338 is going around 1700-1900 and the 308,300wm is going around 1400-1500. may check it out, still have to get funds up. but seller may not come down on price. will see! |

Keep in mind one thing the 338 is an expensive round to shoot factory or reloads , The 300WM has a bad tendency to stretch cases so you only get 3-5 reloads before the brass is trashed. The .308 will be the cheapest to shoot and have the longest brass life. yes, good point, would be nice to find in 308, but how often do these ar30's come up for sale locally? I'm not big on buying complete guns on the web, like to handle and inspect in person,, may have take what I can get. |

The .308 will be the cheapest to shoot and have the longest brass life. It is not expensive to reload for an AR-30 338 Lapua. Factory ammo is rough at about $5/round, but not reloads. I'm reloading it for about $0.96/round with 300 SMKs using Lapua brass, Fed 215M, and 89.0 RE-25. Shoots between 0.35 and 0.5 MOA depending upon how well i'm doing that day and if I let the barrel cool suffiicently. My 308 loads run about $0.60/round using 175 SMKs. Half again more expensive reloads is not bad for all the trajectory and energy you get with a 338 Lapua. I don't shoot the volume out of it that I do 308...if I did, i'd have replaced the barrel a couple times...but it is nice to have 2000 foot pounds of energy out to 1200 yards at our altitude (7000 feet). BTW, I would NOT suggest the AR-30 in any caliber but 338 Lapua. The guys are very accurate, yes, but you can get a Remington 5R in 308 WIN or 300 WM that shoots just as good for half the price. And the Magazine system on the AR-30 sucks (doesn't feed reliably), as does the ergos. Bolt knob is turned down too far, smacks you in the trigger finger knuckle if you aren't really careful. Factory stock sucks for cheek weld. I bought my AR-30 about 4 years ago and I wouldn't take for it. It's a bargain 338 Lapua that I've got $1200 in. But the SAKO TRG-42 and the AI-AWM are much better rifles, ergo and magazine wise, as are the custom rigs from GAP, etc. -David Edgewood, NM |

$0.96/round is cheap for a guy that shot 50 BMG competitions for 4 years and reloads had $3.20 worth of components in them. Shot 120 rounds per match, 3+ matches a year. See, Lapua is cheap.
100 or so rounds of 338 Lapua ammo is cheap. Lot cheaper than the 1000-1500 rounds of match 308 I shoot every year. -David Edgewood, NM |

Cut it, put raised spacers. All is good. Kicks less than a 308win. |

I've got an AR stock adapter (made by Allied Precision Arms) that will adapt an AR stock onto the AR-30. Optimal stock for it will be a MagPul PRS. But everytime I round up $250 that could buy the me the PRS, I buy something else, like a couple jugs of powder or a big box of bullets.
Eventually, i'll get the PRS, which will also allow me a bigger AR grip to move the palm of my hand back from the trigger, but it'll probably be a while. To many wants, not enough money tree. -David Edgewood, NM |
