So Fulton Armory is selling 16" & 18.5" .308 barrels that are looking pretty tempting. I'd read that a 16" DPMS barrel weighs ~2.75lbs. So by swapping to their lightweight 18.5" barrel, and going from a 12" DD Lite rail to a new Troy TRX, I could knock almost a full pound off my rifle while bumping the length out over two inches. That's tempting...
So anyone try them out yet? How much worse do you suppose a LW barrel would shoot when compared to their full profiled one? |

Good barrel. I've had one for a while and it is a great shooter. It is al least 1 moa, rings my 2" swinger at 200 yards everytime. Probably could do better but never serious on paper. In fact, I'm giving it up in a trade this week and I'm gonna get another one for my MaTen. Also remember, its chrome lined.

| i got mine with a Krieger barrel , but when i called back to ask for spare last year they said they can't get the Krieger's now and they had their own in house barrels but he would not tell me who made them or where the blanks come from. I will buy another kreiger though , its well worth the extra $. |

And does it have forward assist serrations? No, not necessary on a .308 AR, at all. Not necessary on a DPMS pattern carrier/upper, but it is present on Armalite and most other 308 AR's. The DPMS FA pushes against the shoulder where the diameter of the BC changes, which is why it is so far forward compared to other companies 308 AR's and AR15's. |
