I'm thinking about a side charging LR but I want to do an AR-15 first to see if I even like the concept before spending big bucks on a 6.5 Creedmoor build.  Anyway so I'm thinking of building a 6.5 Grendel side charger and can't decide between Mega or Fulton receiver.  I know the Mega is much bulkier and doesn't work with some handguards that have anit-rotation tabs (ie Troy TRX Extreme and Samson Evo rails).  I know Fulton makes great products as does Mega and therein lies my dilemma.  So what do you guys think?

No problems with either my Fulton or Mega stuff.

Go mega. Always seemed a better finish, nicer machining. Not that my Fulton isn't nicely done, but my Mega stuff seems a little nicer.

ETA: After saying this, i have to mention my favorite rifle is my Fulton Armory though.

Okay so that was no help at all! Anyone else with a more definitive answer or are either going to be just fine?

Okay, Mega, because it is only one of the two I have.  Seriously, the opinion of the guy who owns both should count for something - he said Fulton is his favorite.

IMO, it basically comes down to what is it you are looking for.  If you want to build a 308 AR, then go with the Mega, if you want a complete rifle, get the Fulton.  If you feel you must have the one with the side charging handle, get the Fulton.  Should be a fairly easy decision.

I don't think you can go wrong with either.  I can say that Mega makes very nice receivers.

Just to muddy the waters a bit, have you looked at the ASA side chargers? They are definitely not cheap, but they are REALLY nice. Left hand, non-reciprocating charging handles. Personally, I just build traditional uppers because I can do 2 for the same price or less, but if I were gonna go with a side charger ASA would definitely get my vote.

I looked at the ASA receivers and while they are way nice they're just too much money for a test build.  The Mega runs around $140 and the Fulton's run for just under $200 and go on sale as low as $160.  Last I checked the ASA's are over $300 so again although nice they are out.  Thanks for the responses so far guys and now for part two.  AR15Performance sells side charging carriers for $99, Fulton has a stripped carrier for with the handle for $150 and the Yong Manufacturing side charger BCG runs $250 (all I need for mine would be the carrier but that doesn't seem to be an option) at Rainer.  Will all of these work with either upper or are they upper specific?  Any suggestions on these?
