I finally pulled this baby out of the safe after waiting almost two years for the brass to be made. Initial test to check for function 2600 fps 5 shot avg with 75gr V-Max hopefully within the next two weeks i will have a range report and more load data. I will be trying 85gr Nosler Partitions for deer and keeping the 75gr V-Max's for coyotes which i built this round for initially. MGP

What case is it based on?

It has the same size bolt face as the 6.8 but you can not make brass from the 6.8. I had brass made with my headstamp.I will post pics when i get a chance hopefully during spring break i will get some testing done.

I'm curious about the cartridge. Ballistics seem rather weak though from what you're describing.  I mean a 223 can easily push a 75 gr. bullet well past 2,600fps. Unless it was a typo and you meant 3,600fps, in which case, THAT would be the jizz.

You can not hunt Deer in CT with a 223 ,Thats one of the reasons i did this round and another reason was just for the hell of it Dam it gets expensive when your bored, plus you can not get a 107gr matchking for a 223 either. I can load any bullet for a 6mm and it will fit in the magazine.

Wildcatting gets in your blood, I know, I am not sure I could have waited two years to turn it from a expensive club, to a firestick. Were you not able to make brass from the 30 Rem? What is the twist rate, it will need to be a 8 twist to shoot the long bullets' and quicker than that to shoot the 115gr.

BRD is bad enough, WildBRD is down right expensive, and mind-consuming.

LOL , my mind went crazy when you said it had a 6.8 bolt face but couldn't be made from 6.8 brass.

This barrel is set up to shoot 75-95gr bullets its a 1-10 twist. I could have made them from 6.8 or 30rem but then u would have to neck ream and i did not want to go that route. The brass was suppose to be done in 20 weeks but you know how that goes.

6.8 standard case taper from base to shoulder is .020".
What smaller taper did you go with to increase capacity?

Shoulder angle is 30 degrees instead of 23 also.
