| Guys I just purchased a Bison 6.8 20" barrel on the EE for a good deal and I was wondering if I could use my Rock River bolt carrier ass. that I have on my 6.8 mid 16" right now with it? How do you check headspace, since to my knowledge there aren't any go/no go gauges out there? Or should I even worry about? Maybe take a shot and check the cases or what? |

Personally I would not use a bolt for two different rifles. Midway sells the 6.8 SPC headspace gauges I know because I have a set.
However, the bolt carrier will work just fine in both rifles but I would get a dedicated bolt. More than likely, just like the 5.56, headspace will be just fine but if you want to check it get a set of gauges. All three of my 6.8s have checked OK and I use the 6.8 DPMS bolts and they work just fine. Midway has them and they are in stock right now. I just ordered one for a .338 Spectre build I am doing and I have been using them for years in all kinds of calibers and have not had the least bit of trouble with them although the DPMS haters will try to tell you they fall apart at the drop of a hat. BS. |
