Yes, I just recieved my much sought after POF P-308 Recon (16" barrel).

This gun is absolutely evil (in a good way)

I am now casting my net for suggestions on what type of optic to get for this rifle.  Do I get a smaller 1-4 power scope, or a big daddy long range 4-12x50 sucker or something in between?

Come on guys give me all of your suggestions and the reason why.

Here is a link to POFs P-308 page P-308 badness

Thanks guys.

Oh and btw I most likely will put on back up flip up iron sights

Depends what you want to use it for. I plan on picking up a NF 2.5-10x32 with LV reticle for my LMT 308. For shorter ranges I would pick up a TA11H 308 ACOG.

For a 16" barrel, you primarily want a light (relatively), fast, 0-500 meter hammer.... right?

A TA11-E ACOG would be good.... I have one and I love it, but (there's always a but),  it's BIG.  Way bigger than you'd expect.

My first choice on a rig like that would be the TA33-G9.

Light, fast, good eye relief, and 3X is enough to answer the mail at any realistic distance you'll be shooting at.

I plan to put a Horus Hawk 3X12X50 on mine....

I bought a Bushnell elite 6500 tactical 2.5-16 for my LMT308MWS I plan on going the distance. AND getting a 18" barrel in the future. Then i will get a aimpoint or acog for short distances.

I'll be in my bunk that is one nice rifle I would go ACOG on that.

I agree with going with the ACOG. That thing is a battle rifle. If it where a 20" or more then a 8-10X or more scope.

When I get my POF this is what i will put on it.

I have the TA11-E on mine and it works great. Maybe a little big but not really a problem.

I just got it on Monday 4/10, I have only shot a few rounds through it to function check it.  And yes I am using magpul mags, they seem to work just fine.  I freakin love this rifle, I never thought I would say it, but I think I like it more than my M1A

It's alright.... I'm thinking about swapping my M1A in a Troy MCS for one with a 20" tube.

How about the IOR 1.5-8X ? Great glass, tanklike build with either with a CQB reticule or duplex/dot. Currently mines sitting on my FAL, but when my 16" 308 POF arrives on Monday it will be making the move....

The OP would be wise to buy a Trijicon with a Larue. It is an excellent combo.
