I'm in the market for a precision semi-auto in .308 that would closely match the performance of my 1/4MOA bolt-action rifle and was wondering which manufacturers are in the top league? I hear good things about Larue's OBR and GAP. Any thoughts on these two and others would be most appreciated.
Thanks. - BORG |

my custom .260rem DPMS REPR shoots .200 easy, and the best group i'v had was .170/5 round group. all depends on what parts you use, and who builds it.
but like i said its custom. i was a gunsmith there, so its a fitted upper and lower, all hand select parts, custom 2 stage triger, and a one off 24" sst krieger bbl. you can get a factory ar that will shoot that good, but its a gamble as to getting the one that shoots 1 MOA or the one that shoots .25 MOA. there are a few companys that will guarantee .5 MOA tho. |

For what it is worth, I have a DPMS in 260 rem that, with the right load, will shoot a 5 shot group you can cover with a dime. It probably depends on the loads you shoot and the individual gun but I have had no problems with my DPMS –– but I have no experience with other brands.

Thanks guys. I'm inclined to go with JP Enterprises after reviewing their platform, plus I love the low profile look of their VTAC handguard. Other technologies I find interesting on their rifles are their proprietary barrel heat sink, LMOS (low-mass operating system, ie. BGC) and awesome left-side charging handle. It would be interesting to hear from anyone on this forum who owns one of these rifles.

| Sooo... I own a stock Bushmaster ar-10 .308 and am putting up between .5 - .25MOA @ 100yds. (150gr Sierra Pro Hunter's) That's w/ a factory barrel and trigger. I'm looking at getting an aftermarket trigger... I'm just not sure which one yet. I have a jewell on my Rem700 and love it. I don't think they make one for the AR10 though. (or didn't last time I checked) Has anyone put an AR15 trigger on an AR10? |
