I have been reading about LWRC for some time now and last weekend I handled a LW REPR for the first time and let me say, this was one solid  built and well finished rifle.  Now I did not shoot it, as it was at a gun store, but based on my first reaction, which never fails me, never, this looks like a winner.

I am not that familiar with LWRC, but what I have read so far, seems they have an excellent product.  I am in the market for a .308, with delivery of the LaRue scheduled for December 21, 2012, seems the LWRC is a good alternative.

Any opinions or experience with LWRC or the REPR that anyone can share?

Thanks,

Where did you hear this? Did you mean 2009? I have not heard about any delays of this magnitude.

As for LWRCi and the REPR, your instincts have served you well. They are a top notch company, easily on par with the likes of LaRue on both quality and after sales support. I am a huge fan of both companies.

In my opinion the biggest differences in the REPR and the OSR are the operating systems (piston vs. DI), the charging mechanism (side vs. tradiational AR handle), and the rail systems. While there are several other differnces, other than these items, I think they are both fairly comparable. We won't know for sure until the end users get some serious trigger time behind both. There are some review posts in this forum on the REPR (like this) and also check out LWRC's forum for several other reviews and discussion topics.

Good luck!

That was sacarsm my friend!  Dec 21 2012 is supposed to be the "end of the world" according to the Mayan calander.  The OSR has had several push forward dates on the release, it's just Mark making sure everything is perfect!

Not to hijack..continue on.

Man, I've been working too hard...that slipped right by me. Guess I need to get some sleep!

Hmmmmm...12/12/2012 11:11:00. Looks kinda tertiary to me. I've been doing binary for the past 110 days straight. Y'now what they say... There are 10 kinds of people in the world. Those that understand binary and those that don't!

Sorry...now back to your regularly scheduled Variant thread.

BFG  I got your sarcasm, 10 is two.....yes that was a joke on my part....I really do like the REPR.  I know that Mark is working his guys overtime to get it right....

I will say that I am going to look at the REPR real hard....

I've had an AR10 for about 14 years and last year when I heard that LWRC was coming out with a piston driven 308 I ordered one. LWRC called me last week and said they were shipping and wanted to know if I still wanted one. I said yes and they told me mine would be shipped within a few weeks. Then they called and said they had one available, did I want it. I got it the next day and I am very happy with it. The left side charging handle is great. The ambi bolt release is great too. The smooth for end with provisions to mount rails is a feature I really like. Rails are OK if you need them but a pain when you don't.

I did not keep up with the changes being made as they redesigned the rifle so I wasn't sure what to expect when I opened the box. The REPR seems better every time I handle it.  I think I like everything but the name. I would have been happy with a generic number/letter combination like AR10 or MP5 or AR15. Fancy names don't do much for me. My cost was not even close to the numbers I've seen thrown around on the web. They are building and shipping now. The prices will be coming down as soon as the initial demand is met.
