I just got back from a trip to a range that I don't get a chance to go to very often, like twice a year. Its the only 300 yard range within hours of my location. I was shooting my 16 inch 6.8 and my 16 inch 5.56. The 5.56 load was 75 gr BTHP at 2500 fps, and the 6.8 load was 110 OTM at 2500 fps. Nothing amazing about this until I looked at my notes today and I realized that the 6.8 shot flatter at 300 yards. I have to go up 20 clicks for the 5.56 and only 18 for the 6.8. It just dawned on me today that they both had the same velocity. I know that they are very similar but that still seems great for the 6.8 ballistics.
The load was 21.7 gr H 322 for the 5.56 and 28 grs H322 for the 6.8. Anyway I thought I would share as this is good data from a sea level location at 90 degs. Its always nice to have some real data not just something off a chart. |

I am up to 31.2 gr of h322
My standard 110gr load was 29.0gr, but I've been playing with 29.5 with my spec II chamber and 1:11 twist barrel. You sir must like living on the edge. My go-to load is 30gr H322 behind a 110gr Accubond or OTM, SSA brass, CCI#400 primer, loaded to 2.260". This load works great in my rifles, from the 8" LWRCi PSD to the 14.5" Noveske Mod 1 chamber 1:12 twist Afghan, and fits in all my mags. |

I'm not buying any more of those.
