Try an experiment.

Take the upper off the lower and remove the B/BC assembly.

Cock the hammer and put the selector on SAFE.

Take your B/BC assembly in hand and push it back into the buffer tube, simulating the way it travels in recoil with the upper installed. Take note of where it bottoms out. The bolt face (B/BC in unlocked position) should be about 1/4 - 3/8 inch aft of the bolt catch.

If it isn't, remove the buffer spring, reinstall the buffer without the spring and try the experiment again. If it works, the spring is too long and should have a couple coils cut.

If the bolt face still isn't 1/4 - 3/8" behind the bolt stop, your buffer is too long.

i figured it out, i am using a command arm srs stock and the screw on the back that attatches the stock to the a2 tube was too long causing the buffer to bottom out on the screw.
thanks.
