I just picked up a new Stag lower from the gun show yesterday and am undecided on what to build. I already have 2 Bushmaster M4's, so I really don't want another .223. I have done some reading on the 7.62x39 upper but have hit a wall. I have 2 SKS's I would be willing to sell to finance this build. I have 2000rounds of wolf ammo. The SKS is a fine weapon, but I would like some thing more accurate. I have looked at the Model 1 Sales kits in 7.62x39, but again I have no idea what works and what doesn't. If any one could help guide me in the right direction I would be very grateful. Also, if anyone wants to tell me why I should lean toward 6.8 over 7.62x39, I'm all ears too. As I can always sell my wolf ammo to fund 6.8 ammo. Thanks.
-C Edit: I am NOT going to use this for hunting. |

6.8 is generally going to be more accurate, and will let you reach out much further. But if you're looking for a plinker/blaster it tough to beat the cost of 7.62x39. I had built a 7.62x39 last year and it's a very accurate, half moa, the 6.8 is a great caliber. It's seems to be that both are good picks. My next set of uppers will be a 6.8 and a .223 with a 26" barrel. Mike |
