I'm looking to build an AR10 and I wanted to know if :
1)anyone has any input regarding using a Krieger AR10 barrel.  Are there any other complanies that produce finer barrels?
2)  I want this puppy to be as accurate as can be and was planning on using a 24" barrel.  Anyone have any suggestions?
3)  What is it meant by POF and GPU?

Thanks for the help!

I think those highlighted terms and $800 are mutually exclusive.  Sorry.

Good old days
AR-10 Lower $165-$200
AR-10 Upper Receiver $200
AR-10 BCG $250
AR-10 Charging Handle $40
AR-10 LPK w/o Trigger $60
AR-10 Basic A2 stock $100

That's $800 w/o a barrel
A 20" AR-10T barrel is $470.  A Krieger or custom could push near $1000.

Still need a handguard, gas system, trigger, optic or sights, magazine(s)...$$$

Current prices are higher than that.

With magazines and optic and just a basic Armalite handguard I've got ~$3800 in mine.

POF = Patriot Ordnance Factory
GPU = Gas piston Upper.

You will be lucky to get out for less than triple your price goal but you might look at Fulton Armory.  He sells some fine LR-308 based rifles and he uses Kreiger barrels.

I just had Compass Lake Engineering build me an AR-15 service rifle upper with a stainless Krieger.  That cost a bit over a grand and it's in 223, of course.

If you want a Krieger barreled AR-10, I'd expect putting on together would end up in the range the OP suggested, around 3 times what your title suggests.

thanks for the responses!  I actually forgot to insert a "1" in the title.  I had been searching around and had an idea of what it would cost.  I wish it could cost 800.  I have another question regarding the clinton ban.  I live in ct and still have to abide by the darn thing and I was wondering if pinning a flash hider to the barrel would be ok?

No, you need a brake or bull barrel.

The FSC30 is a sweet looking piece and is classified as a brake

I have an 18" SS Krieger match barrel on mine and it's a .5 MOA rifle no matter what I feed it! The 24" barrel that came on it was better served as a tent stake.
