Hello all, I have a question maybe someone can give advise on. I have a question regarding a RRA .458 Socom I am adding new attachments on. I am putting a DD lite rail system on it in place of tube and a buddy of mine was going to remove the tube for me. Well the RRA upper .458 marked reciever has some scratches (OMG!  ) that can possibly be refinished, it hurts me to see the scratches on a new gun.
As I am basically putting all new attachments on the gun I am thinking of just buying a STEALTH Billet Upper LT-007 for it now and just send the RRA Upper out later. Now My question is will the STEALTH Billet Upper LT-007 have any issues? I see RRA made some modification to the barrel throat on barrel itself but everything else looks untouched. I will be having a Gunsmith do work or I will buy all tools and do it myself, but I will be obtaining the Larue upper either way. Just checking to see if there will be any problems with the exchange of uppers. Thanks |

The first hurdle for your smith is gonna be getting the RRA tube off. Apparently they loc-tite the heck out of them, and the folks who have reported on removing them say it was a real bear.
The only other obvious upper situation could be the new ejection port. I do not know if the Stealth is already opened for larger calibers, but the 458S does require a significantly larger ejection port (over the 556). If the new upper has an ejection port cover, then you will have a fine balancing act to play, removing metal from the top and bottom, to keep the cover functioning. Craig |
| Yeah, It looked like blue Loc tite every where when the tube was removed. I will measure the ejection port and see. I could not tell much difference in size looking at it with door on it. I assume I can use the ejection port door from the RRA along with everything else. Thanks |
