I was wondering about fulton armory for some parts for my DPMS 308 build. Does anyone know about their quality / interchangeability with DPMS. How is this company to deal with?  Could this be a viable option to complete my rifle quicker than waiting on DPMS?  I stil need 18'' barrel , bolt, and upper reciver with forward assist. Is thier upper the same thickness as the AP4? Thanks

yeah thanks, Inquired today, most parts 5-7 weeks, but alot better than DPMS at 6-12 months right. I just wanted a little feedback about the company and does he use their parts or better quality type question.

Strange that you ask about exactly what I just did myself.......unavailable DPMS parts so I placed an order for some parts I needed from Fulton and voila! In my hands fairly quickly and nice quality too. I will be buying more again....

So Fulton is shipping in 5-7 weeks?

I've considered ordering thier upper receiver for my LR-308, but I only see that they have stripped ones.

I have been getting orders pretty quick , I got a bolt carrier and some other small parts in a couple of weeks . I have a complete bolt on order and some other small parts to complete the group. If you want some  photos of the BC , I can post some.

I to still need to get a bbl. also ,got a price from GAP of 635. installed , I will have to see if they will just make a install ready bbl. for me. The Krieger bbl. from Fulton is another one I have been looking at.

Question....

If I were to order a stripped 308 upper, what 308 specific parts are needed to complete it?

I know the ejection port door is longer, but what about the forward assist? Is it specifically for the 308 or does a AR-15 one work?

I've been wondering about this for a while.  Thanks!

Hand guard, charging handle, bolt/bolt carrier assembly are upsized for the 308.

Thanks DnPRK,

Yeah, I knew about the other pins.  I've got both an AR and the LR slick side.  I just see that Fulton has the STRIPPEd upper on their site, but not a built up one.  I wondered what I needed to do to build one up.  I'd still be using my same charging handle and bcg.

After this deer season is over, I have to do a lot of things differently on my LR-308.  I think I need to put either a JP forearm, or the Badger Stabalizer–– probably the stabalizer.  I had it rock a bit today while watching a spike, a 5 point, and a 6 point.  It almost spooked them off.  The flat bottom on the Stabalizer may help.

I also think I need to either get another shorter upper to go with this rifle or have my 24" fluted bull barrel cut down to 20" or 21" and re-crowned.  The stand that I use the most is 4'x4' and I had a lot of trouble moving from one window to the next.  I really needed the barrel to be about 2" shorter.  Couple that with the fact that it is next to impossible to shoot off-hand accurately due to the weight at the end of the barrel.

Needs to be bead blasted or blackened as well.

This is my first season hunting with the LR-308.  I'm learning a lot of what works and what doesn't.

My plans for the DAY that the season ends:

-Swap from the slick-side to the A3-ish receiver (DPMS or Fulton–– kinda like the Fulton)
-Swap forearms to something more stable.
-Cut and recrown the barrel.
-Thread and add muzzle brake to protect crown.
-Alumium Oxide blast or Blacken the barrel
-Adjustable buttstock
-better scope mounts.

I don't think that I'd lose too much velocity by cutting a couple inches off this rifle.  As it is, I see more benefits than liabilities.

Again, not to hijack, but I'd love any comments on this.  I can start it on another thread if that is the right thing to do.

since were on the fulton/ Dpms build discussion, then all interested have at it, these forums are for learning and information to help each other, so I dont consider you hijacking the thread. I just want to learn like the others here, so the more posts, the more knowledge we all can gain, thats the way I see it. Happy New Year!

go to DPms web site, click on replacement parts, caliber specific, then upper receiver, click on each part, if it is different part no from ar-15 then it is 308 specific, hope this helps

I just asked Fulton some questions regarding their uppers and barrel dimensions over at http://www.warrifles.com/ in the M14 part and the response was almost immediate.

Placed an order shortly thereafter for a 18" upper with side cocking with some other things... Getting prepped for my POF lower to arrive.
