Howdy all,
I am posing this question to you fellow AR .308 owners.  I have a Bushmaster .308 A2 with the A2 fixed buttstock, fixed carry handle, has 20" barrel and the normal handguards.  Here is a listing of what I would like to do to upgrade the rifle:

1.  I would to replace the buttstock with a collaspiable stock with an adjustable cheek rest so I can use a scope mounted to the carry handle or lower it to use iron sights, i.e. Command Arms CBS 6-position telestock with adjustable cheek rest attachment maybe?

2.  I would like to be able to co-witness a red dot sight with my iron sights. Suggestions on mounting and placing the red dot sight?

3.  I would like to get an compact rifle scope for this rifle as I have a Leupold scope Mark 4 Tactical scope and it is rather long on the carry handle.  Any suggestions on manufacturers to go to for this?  I would like to able to go from close quarters combat to semi-sniping.

I know this may seem an ambituous upgrade but I love this rifle and it seems to be an extension of me.  It hits what I am at and I have shot it out to about 1,000 yards with my scope very well with the right ammo.  Any suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks in advance.

P.S.  I also have a Colt AR15 in .223 that has the fixed A2 buttstock, fixed carry handle, 20" barrel and normal handguards that will be getting the same kind of upgrade as my Bushmaster .308 AR

WOW, GI_Rat,
The pictures are very nice.  Could you expound on what you did in each picture?  The first picture looks like an before picture and the second picture looks like an after picture for the first picture.  Am I right or are they two diffiernt rifles?

Glad I found this....

I have the BAR-10 16" Carbine flat top, and was wondering about options for the stock and handguards.  Do standard stocks bolt right up?  Other than the free float tube, are there any othe handguard options?

My rifle has the skeleton stock and I hate it with a passion...

The hand guards are Mid-length. Any standard collapsible stock will work, however, you'll need to change out the buffer. A YHM-3005A is the free float tube you'll need. I'm sure there are other manufactures that make one for the 16" Bushmaster .308
