if i bought a complete 6.8 upper for my AR ,what else beside magazines and ammo would i need
would my buffer be good to go.

You can use the same buffer, but you might want to check it more frequently for proper length - as the 6.8 seems to have more oomph than 5.56,

It will be fine you might want to look into a flatwire spring if your worried about it.  Also if you go that route might as well throw in a H1 buffer as well

If you have had that buffer spring for a while it is always best to change them out. Unless you are using a SS flat wire CS buffer spring they are a regular maintenance item that I change every year sooner if I notice it has gotten shorter then I like. Take out your present one and compare it to a new one you will see it is quite a bit shorter. With normal springs they loose tension on every cycle.  The flat wire one is good for 1 million cycles basically a life time for most. The CS FW spring will also reduce recoil and muzzle jump  and retard timing. All positive things.

On the buffer weight if its a standard carbine weight I would keep it until you have broken in the upper and all the surfaces have mated to each other.Then try going up to a H1. If you shoot hot rounds you can probably go up to a H2
