Anybody have one? Anybody shot one?

Basically is a 6.5 load that used a 5.56 bolt.  It only requires a barrel change out.

Does anyone know if this round requires fireforming?  If this is just resize and go, it sounds like it would be a great round.

Its a JDJ wildcat, basically .223 necked up to 6.5

It will run in all AR-15 and m-249 platforms with just a barrel swap.  I have an article on it someplace.  Military did not embrace it.  It lacks powder capacity to get high velocities.  Using FMJ wound ballistics would be less than impressive.  With expanding bullets, like a V-max I think it would perform well.

The 6.5 grendel and 6.8spc stole all the thunder.

I would like to try it, but I am busy with my 300 whisper, which is also based on a 223 case, shortened and necked up.  Velocity might not be as impressive but expanding bullets work well.  Actually, I think the 6.8spc necked down to 6.5 is a really good cartridge.  Many choices out there.  6.5 is doing very well in 308 length with the 260 Rem, 6.5x47 Lapua and new 6.5 Creedmoore, and SAUM/WSM wildcats.

The 6.5 MPC is 6.5x42;  It just needs sized and trimmed, no fireforming.
