| I'm thinking of trading in my AR-15 for a .308 POF 16". Does anyone have experience with this manufacturer? I would appreciate any feedback on the rifle before I commit. Thanks. |
| if you can find one available, buy it. heard it was a 7 month wait list. i just got one a few days ago. havent got a chance to fire it yet, but it feels and looks great. i do have and use their ar15 upper and it has been a terrific addition. i used it in a tactical class and was not disappointed at all. you should have no problems with the .308. |
Any pics of it ? |
| Man that frosts me. I am all for free enterprise and all that... what the market will bear, yada yada, etc.... his call. But my call would be to thank the dealer by not only not buying the marked up rifle, but not buying any damn thing from him again. I got no use for that kind of business practice. |
BORG, Depends on what you mean by "...do a better job..." I've neither fired nor handled any POF product, but do a few searches on this site and I think you'll find relatively favorable comments. LWRC reportedly has a .308 rifle in production, but I've not seen any range reports. Magpul is supposedly going to make a .308 version (Masada?), but threads in Arfcom indicate it's going to be a while before they hit the market. I do own an L1A1 and despite the receiver being made by Enterprise Arms, it has gone "bang" every time I've pulled the trigger (+2,500 times). FALs are known for their durability/reliability and so-so ergonomics. They're definitely not known for being a tack driver (1.5-2.0 moa at 100 yds is best I could do with iron sights). If you go the FAL route look into product offerings by DSA Arms (www.dsarms.com). Good luck, SFBRD |
Its not out yet but the LWRC SABR .308 I find alot nicer. I got to play around with alot if of the .308's at SHOT and have to say that the LWRC is my fave. |

Thanks for the advice. The POF .308 that was marked up $600 above MSRP sure felt good in my hands. The finish and fit was awesome, but I have not convinced myself to pay a $600 premium. I currently own a Bushmaster AR-15 M4 5.56mm and have had it for some time now. It might or might not be time for a change. We'll see... Check out the specs here: www.pof-usa.com/p308/P-308-16-MRR-CF-308-CARBINE-C.R.O.S..htm |

I've got 2 of the POF 16" 308's. I had one ordered for about a year and didn't think it was going to come in, so when I found another one I bought it. The very next day my dealer called and quess what, the first rifle was in. As I didn't buy the first from him, I just told him great and picked it up. I haven't shot the second one yet, and the first only about 30 rounds. Feels great and shoots great, so far. If this rifle pans out as good as I expect I will probably sell my AR 10's. |
