I am relatively new the the world of the AR 15 and I am now looking to get one for hunting and target practice. I have a few different AR's in mind. the DPMS 6.8 spc and the DPMS LR308 I just don't know what brands are putting out the most reliable AR's and what caliber is best for hunting. Alittle info for you to help me out, I hunt mostly white tail's, and I live in Washington state, making a lot of my hunting within a 200 yard range, in thickly wooded areas. One last thing is I cant spend much more then $1000 on my rifle. |

it all depends on what you want. between the 6.8 and .308, i like the .308 personally. mainly because of ammo availability. secondly because it's a tried and true, proven, here to stay, accurate, and potent calibur. i don't reload right now, but that's ok, because there are literally hundreds of different choices. lots of match grade choices too. i can go right down the road to walmart and find ammo......if need be. i think the 6.8, along with several other options now gaining popularity in AR caliburs sounds really cool, but it's still new. like i said though, it's all in what you want. the 6.8 , and some of the other caliburs have their advantages too. get to clicking.....if the answer isn't clear after researching for awhile, then maybe you'll have to get both. |

You could get a rifle Kit form Model "1" Sales (www.model1sales.com ) in 6.8 SPC. Get a stripped lower online. The kit is $550.00 and the stripped lower $120.00 that = $670.00 and that will you $330.00 for other ammo, shipping and other neat stuff. I just built a 7.62X38 $510.00 for the kit $120 the lower $20.00 mag $130.00 for ammo = $780.00. It's easy to assemble the lower and there are easy to follow instructions on this sight and were allways here to help. Mike |
