First off, I've got an LR308 AP4 upper with the rails and goodies. ( pointing out I've already got the tacticool required rails ) I've also got an A3 upper on the way to stick my 20" Krieger barrel onto that will be primarily used for range time and hunting season. I want to keep the forend as light as possible without sacraficing stiffness. The forend will also be an attatchment point for a harris bipod. What's the best FF forend to go with to keep decent cost and light weight without being crap? Where's the best place to buy a receiver block and wrench for the LR308? ( I'm assuming my AR15 tools wont be properly sized) |
.308 forearms 3/4 down the page |
Ummm, I think the rail foreends DPMS puts on the LR308 rifles are made by YHM. Have you looked here? |
|
I much prefer the customizeable forend they offer. DPMS doesnt offer that one even if it is YHM. I really dont want rails all over it. I would like a short section up front for the bipod though. Update: I contacted YHM, they stated that they are not currently making any .308 forends and dont know if/when they will. |

buy a DPMS nut and have someone thread a tube to fit and anodize. My double ended hydro steering setup that has 50 times more machining is only $275 Let me make a few calls. I'm not paying $300 for a tube that cost $18 to build. EDIT- Check WOA $155 but has a slot for match type handstop. and SWS and PRI |
Clint McKee has the same YHM float tube for the LR308 on his web page for $150.Fulton Armory On the left side of the page click "Titan FAR308 pages", then click "Titan parts & Etc", then scroll down about a third the way from the top. It is the same FFT pictured at the top of the page. The other option is the DPMS website under replacement parts/free float tubes. |
| +1 on the fa tube, just saw it listed separately the other day. it does not look like it has the same mounting holes along the entire length of the tube though. try the yhm handguard wrench. i havent changed a .308 tube yet, but the holes seem the same. just looks thicker outside the holes. just put the receiver sideways in a vise with wood blocks. |
