I would like to cut down the 16" barrel and put on a congo, or other more effective hider, permanently to make it a 16.1" barrel.

Will I have any funtioning problems?

Probably not. Do you think the stock flash hider is insufficient? Why?

Alot of technology went into the congo flash hider (it was made to distribute flash more effeciently, because of the 16" barrel).

The DPMS one was just "made" larger to accomadate the bigger barrel diameter.

If the DPMS is a derivitive of the phantom, I can say that it works very well. I put a .308 phantom on my Cetme's 17" barrel, and at night there is zero flash.
