I have an order set up right now for the rifle with magpul PRS stock, leupold 3.5-10x front focal scope with TMR, pelican case and soft case from blackhawk, and about 10, 19rnd mags and 5 10rnd mags.

But anyways, as I understand it this is derived from the KAC SR-25 rifle that was adopted as the militarys new SASS rifle with some changes through DPMS as those were the two companies that won the contracts.

Anyone have any experience with this rifle or any info on how it performs?

wont be as accurate as a 24" rifle, but hey it will do the job

I am going to pick up a boltgun from GAP to make up for the difference in accuracy. I am putting a Leupold Mark 4 3.5-10x40mm LR/T M3 Front Focal on the SASS for more rapid shooting and just using determined hold over points and I am going to put the same scope except with the tall turrets meant for precise adjustments on the boltgun.

I have never shot one but definately a beautiful gun IMHO. Tag for review and range report.

Please explain the correlation between accuracy and barrel length.

These sticks can be almost as accurate as a bolt gun. My GAP built 300 WM shoots right at 1/4 moa (I can only get it to shoot 3/8 moa) but I have seen it shoot consistent 1/4 moa with BH 190's.

This little SASS is way more accurate than I am. Here is mine, its a GAP built LR-308.

DPMS upper & lower, worked over 2 stage match trigger
hand lapped 20" Rock 5R barrel (1/10 twist)
DD rail
Magpul MIAD Grip and PRS stock
SS 10x (for now) it will get a USO SN3 3.5x17 at a later date

I've only been able to put 70 rds through it so far and it kept under 1/2 moa with 168 Fed gold match. Cant wait to see how it will shoot once the barrel is broke in and I'm shooting BH 175's

Man, that is one of the nicest rifles I've seen in a while. How much did that set you back (if you don't mind me asking)?

That is an astonishing rifle. Great set up, and an amazing finish job.

There is a great pic of a USMC SASS in THIS thread

I don't know what (if anything) the guys at DPMS did to the design, but their rifles are pretty nice. We had a couple of minor reliability issues during seasoning, but once the rifles were broken in they function fine.

Accuracy is better than I expected, honestly. The Remingont booth at Shot this past Spring had a couple of SASR on display. They're made by DPMS though they sport a Remington logo. Greta guns.

We use them in our Department of State Designated Defensive Marksman program and only a few guys have not appreciated the rifles. There will always be someone who won't like it because they don't own one.

The 3.5 - 10 is underpowered for that rifle. Our DDM cadre routinely shoot at 1100 yards.

That reminds me, does anyone know what ever happened to the DPMS/Remington collaboration? I was under the impression that Remington would be selling them to LEO's reguardless of the SASS outcome.

Enforcer22,

Who did I need to talk to at GAP about a obtaining a similar set-up?  Thanks.
