I am confused on the subject a little. To give you a little backround I have been shooting for awhile. But mostly handguns doing competitions and stuff like that. I own several ar's and ak's but never been that much in to them as far as customizing. I am looking in to bigger calibers now and I had my mind set on going with a .50 just incase they look at banning them any time soon. With more research that I have been doing. The .458 socom really looks good too as far as what I am looking for. I am not sure which way to go though so some advice would be greatly appreciated. I want a large caliber rifle on the ar platform. I have a couple ar lowers just sitting around waiting for some action. I will probaly end up doing them all but what to start with. Also who do I buy it from? Anyone caliber have the certain advantages? Thank you in advance. |

I think that most things being equal the 50 wulf and the 458 socom are very similar and both have advantages. I choose the 458 and here is why... Better bullet selection rarer (cabelas doesn't sell them) Downs to the 458 Brass is expensive, though so is the AA brass |

I would go with the 50 Beowulf. I have had one a few years now and I find that the real bonus is that you can buy ammo for it already manufactured, you DONT need to reload it if you dont want to. There are magazines also availible for what I need to do (hunting). There is a lot of info on the new beowulf website. 50beowulf.com There are a lot of loading choices out there, more than the 458socom if you include all of the .500 bullets availible for the 500 S&W, 50AE, and 50 Blackpowder. I was suprised to realize you can load up some Powerbelt Bullets, just take the plastic backer off... 530gr steel tip Dangerous Game..... |
