Okay here is the low down;  I have a 16" wulf with factory install FS mounted on a new STAG lower.  I'm using the factory original 7rd mag.  Every couple of rds (mostly with HP ammo) the bolt only partial closes.  Then I have to break the gun down to pull the bolt back.  You can't pull it back w/ the charging handle.  It is stuck w/a unfired round in the chamber.  It happens more fequently w/ hollow points then FMJ.  I'm confused?

PS is it normal for the bolt not to lock open on a empty mag?  I can't get the bolt to lock open at all.

What's a "wulf"?

edit Oh Beowulfs are "wulfs" now?
Nevermind

-edit actually I tried to delete this post unsuccessfully when I figured out what you meant, sorry if you took my post the wrong way I actually was trying to find "Wulf" in the blue book until I caught onto what you meant.

How do you pull the bolt back when you remove the upper from the lower?    Does removing the lower make the bolt come unstuck, or are you hammering on the bolt carrier from the bottom?

(For the record, an easier way is to pull on the charging handle and slam the butt of the gun onto the ground. You basically use the inertia of the bolt carrier to pull the round out.)

Not normal.  Can you push on the bottom part of the bolt catch and manually lock the bolt back?

Same thing has happened to me.  I think it is a batch of bad ammo.  Only 325HP does it, the 400 grain doesn't.

i only shoot 325hp's

what stock are you using?
what buffer and spring?
have you tried other mags?
is your rifle clean?
chamber clean?
have you tried different ammo?
how do you break the rifle open if the bolt carrier isnt all the way home? wouldnt it be partially in the buffer tube sorta locking the two halves together?

more info is needed

Do you have calipers?   If you do, you can measure the OD of the brass and find out for sure if it's out of spec. (like maybe the case mouth is flared)

I had a similar problem with a few reloads.....turned out to be the case mouths were flared slightly....

Makes sense; I use AA factory ammo and by eye-balling I could see a little bulge by the case mouth on some of them.

I just solved the problem.  Well I use a cav arms stock which is shorter than a standard A2 stock. I also use a Daniel Defense A2 single point sling plate.  The DD came with a make up spacerand a longer screw for the added length of putting the plate between the receiver and the stock.  The reason why the bolt wasn't locking back is because the bolt carrier wasn't traveling back far enough because the extra long screw was hitting the back end of the buffer.  I think this will also fix my problems with poor feeding.  So I got a shorter screw that allows the buffer to fully cycle.

Thanks for all the feed back  ARFCOM members save my ass again

Not a bad Idea to to check the bad cartidges.  Unfortunately I throw them out at the range.  I have a fresh batch coming in I'll have to spot check them.  This stuff is too expensive to start throwing out five or six bad rounds.

I've had the same problems as the original poster.
Using an ACE A2 stock
Standard Buffer with Wolf XP Buffer Spring
Rifle Clean
Chamber Clean
Only happening with 325 hp or at least the majority of the time.  I mostly shoot the 325's

Next time I'm out I'm going to try swapping the XP Buffer Spring back to the original spring.  I haven't tried it with the standard one yet.

I just tried 40 rounds of 325 from a new batch I got, not a single problem.  It had to be a bad batch of ammo!
