I honestly don't have any experience with the Bushy. I've had a DPMS for over a year, and I'm loving it. It's freakishly accurate, and has been very reliable. The 24" upper was 100% reliable with every kind of ammo I used. The 16" upper took a little tweaking but it runs like a top now. I really like the fact that the Bushy has a brass deflector (I'm a lefty) and I believe it has a forward assist. The DPMS is a slick-side more like an SP-1. I like the way the flat top is at a proper height on the Bushy. The DPMS has a raised rail...this helps for big scopes, but a getting a consistent cheek weld is more difficult. Neither of these rifles has much in the way of aftermarket accessories...well, railed tubes or spare uppers anyway. The Bushy has no problems with mag availability, the DPMS is kind of difficult to find SR25 mags...and they are EXPENSIVE (although the DPMS steel mags are supposed to be shipping now for less than $60) The price is why I bought the DPMS. $900 vs $1200 for a comparabe Eagle AR-10. The Bushy was nothing more than a rumor when I bought mine, but at about $1600 for the Bushmaster, I still would have chosen DPMS. I've said it before, I'll say it again. If I had it to do all over again, I would have bought the AR-10 solely because of the aftermarket parts. SniperX has a fantastic railed tube for the DPMS now, (and I'll be placing on order this week!) but he's the ONLY player in town. I've built my DPMS just about the way I want it, and I'm happy with it. I have no intention of selling it...but I'm still wanting that AR-10 |
| I have an M1A and wanted to try the Bushmaster 308 in the flat top version for scope mounting, and keep the M1A for iron sights. I have heard many good things about the DPMS and of course the Armalite, but one thing I do know is that any semi auto is only as good as it's magazine. Bushmaster designing around the cheap and excellent FNFAL mag made it a no vote issue for me. |

I have never touched a BAR10 but I do own a 24" DPMS LR308. If you are going to replace your PSS in my mind I would go with the DPMS. It is a gun build around accuracy, that is why it has the EOP as well as the fact that it is a slick side. The gun was not build to be a battle rifle. As for the comment about any autoloader is only as good as its mags, I would have to say that is a understatement. The good thing is DPMS as spent a lot of time and money to develop there own proprietary magazine for there weapon. I know they are $60.00 MSRP a pop but for quality you are going to pay. As goes for the FN FAL mags you get some good ones, and you get some bad ones. The good thing about the DPMS is that they will supply you with 2 mags when you purchase the weapon, and for a precision rifle that should be enough for the average shooter. I am also sold on customer service of a company. I was having problems blowing primers in my DPMS. Mailed the brass to Black Hills and the forwarded it to DPMS. A week later I get a call from the president of DPMS and he personally oversaw and updated me on the progress of my rifle after I sent it back to them for a free re-barreling. Now that is customer service. I have never used Bushmasters customer service but they would have to work very hard to out do DPMS in my mind. To me I would go with the DPMS, for price, excellent quality and great customer service. If you are going to get a DPMS LR 308 I would suggest cotacting Atlantic Firearms they will take care of you and get you a great deal. Matt Carper |
