I put about 150 rounds through my new BAR10 with custom buffer and Vltor stock today.  Ammo was a real mixed bag - UMC 150gr, British L2A2 ball, German MEN86 ball, 155gr TAP and Winchester Fail-Safe.

It ran perfectly with everything except the Fail-Safe.  It has a truncated hollow point, and the flat point catches in the barrel extension.  No big deal, since it liked the TAP.  Recoil was low and smooth.

So far, so good...but I'm really liking this rifle.

I fondled one the other day at the store and it looked nice.
Would love to have taken it home, but the price wasn't right...

Hi. Seen from previous posts that yours is a 16" right?

Thinking of getting a 16" A3 too but had some silly questions.

How would you compare the recoil to a 20" or with the flash suppressor over a comp? How quick are you able to take follow up shots?

How did you find the accuracy with a 16"?

Have lots of 16" and 20" ARs and some FALs and love both but want the 308 AR now :)

Would as above get it in A3 and mount a low power scope like a Burrris 1.5-6 electrodot. Have one on my DSA and it is capable of head shots at 400yds. Me on the other hand.....Thanks!

Pics: the gun as it appears today without front BUIS or FS

and the little itty bitty buffer I made so I can use a Vltor stock...it's little, but heavier than the A2 buffer to its right - it has tungsten weights from Slash....

Awesome, can't wait to see it with the TPR-S mounted.

QuietShootr,
How hard is it to make your own buffer?  What tools needed?

You are one evil SOB, not really scarry, but evil nonetheless.

Christmas presents for the wife and kid or a new BAR 10?

Still going like a little Energizer bunny.  I put another 300 rounds through it today with the collapsible stock and experienced NO malfunctions.  The round count is now about 700 with no cleaning or malfunctions.  I'm probably going to go ahead and clean it.

I've added an Armalite A2 FS to it, which is FAR more pleasant to shoot than that stupid Izzy brake.

Here's a movie of a novice shooter (20 y.o. kid) putting a few through it today.

Edit:  It spits my home rolled AP rounds through 5/8" steel plate no problem too.  Did I mention I like this gun?

Addendum:  I just cleaned and lubed it for the first time.  It was dirty, but not ridiculously so.  Did I mention NO MALFUNCTIONS at all?
