I've been shopping the heck out of left hand uppers and like the idea of a side charge. The search has me thinking of a configuration I can't find anywhere out there. Would it be possible to get a left hand upper with a left side discharge, have a handle threaded into the right side of a left hand bolt, then have a slot machined into the right side of the upper for the handle to travel in. This way a lefty could hold the rifle with his left hand and rack the gun with his right and the empties would still kick out on the left. The bolt with a handle would also be the forward assist. Has anyone ever seen this setup? The only one I've seen like it doesn't allow the bolt to double as a forward assist.

I have seen this . I think DPMS actually made some for a while or it was someone using DPMS style receivers and making them. I have not seen any recently but I was really into the left handed uppers back when DPMS originally started making "South Paw" receivers before stag started making left handed receivers.

I'm just not seeing it out there and have spent a lot of time looking. I'd consider having parts machined just to get what I want. If there are any smiths out there I would love to hear from them.

Yeh the exact type you are looking for may not exist anymore may have been a special run.

There is one company that makes a left side eject but the charging handle is on the right side
but that might be a start .

If you find one of the original south paw flat tops with a bolt  that were made really thick that might be worth looking into . There are some still floating around.

There are some out there that are close to what I want. The G4 ejects left and the charge handle is on the right but it will only pull the BCG reward, not having the ability to push the bolt forward because it basically works like a standard charge handle. Keystone makes one where the BCG has a threaded in handle that moves with the bolt and would forward assist but the handle is also on the left with the discharge hole. I'd like to charge with my right hand and be able to forward assist with it.

Well I know I saw some made with the dpms or dpms style South paws. Maybe it was a one time run but it means it was possible.

I ordered this one today at www.keystoneaccuracy.com

I've been talking to Keystone Accuracy about an upper for a couple days. They do custom work but their standard lefty is like the one in the link you posted with the charge handle on the left. I asked if they could leave the ejection port on the left and put the charge handle on the right.  The answer was yes, they do that and at the same price as their standard LH build. They said it could be out the door and about a week so I placed an order. I'm really looking forward to having a left side eject on a semi auto that charges on the same side as all the other guns I have. Being mostly left handed but ambidextrous with a dominate left eye this will be real nice. No more backwards working rear charging handle either.
