Hi everyone, new member here but long time lurker. I'm planning to start my first build, and I'm stumped on what stripped lower receiver to get. I would like to spend under $120 so with that in mind what lower would provide me the best value for the money.

Inexpensive stripped lowers can be a little hard to find right now.

PSA has some assembled lowers: http://palmettostatearmory.com/ar-15-05/lowers.html

Unless you really want to assemble your own, these are pretty good deals when you consider the total cost of a lower, an LPK, and a stock.

I agree with the above poster, but to answer your question:

Specs for lowers are widely known and many different manufacturers source their lowers from the same places.  The only brand that I say *might* be iffy is anderson; I've had a couple with tight takedown holes and tight magwells, but still functional.  But besides that you shouldn't need to worry about quality too much.  Aero, spikes, bushmaster, etc.  The'll all be totally fine.

Here is the thread to help you find in stock lowers.

The Mega forged lowers are in your price range and are good fit and finish, may not be the easiest to find in stock right now I'd imagine. Aero also makes a nice lower, you could get the for $65-70 a few months ago.

Aero still has them, they are great lowers. They cost $90 but you may be able to find them somewhere else cheaper. Link to Aero Precision Lowers:

I've most recently used Spikes Tactical lowers and am quite happy with them. In all honesty thge list for lowers you should NOT use is shorter.

I would shop locally for a couple of smaller manufactures. For example, Spikes is down the road from me and luckily I walked out with a lower. Tactical Machining is another. I can buy direct, inspect in person and avoid FFL transfer fees.

If not possible, locate a reasonable FFL. Keep an eye out for PSA Daily Deals, hard to pass up. Rainer Arms also have stripped lowers for $120 or so shipped with APEX.
