Seems like every single keymod attachment:  light mount, and or picatinny rail section has some super soft super cheap star-hex that I either strip out or break the attachment with.

I've stripped out maybe 3-4 so far (not even torquing hard, just on and off a few times)

What's up with this cheap shit?  Is there a picatinny rail section that mounts up not using this cheap garbage star mount shit?

Pretty obvious why .mil will never adopt keymod; it's garbage.  Unfortunately I have a few rails with it so I need to make it work for me - hopefully someone has a bomb proof picatinny rail section conversion.

You're over torquing the screws.

they seem to wiggle loose after about 200 rounds at the range.

ive never had an issue with keymod stuff.  Star or hex heads sometimes.. Nothing a trip to Ace Hardware didnt fix..
You should have to torque at all, just snug with some blue loctite.
Midwest Industries makes the best keymod attachments imo.

Blue Loctite

Also make sure you are using the correct size torx or hex bits.  Hex bits and wrenches come in standard and metric. The difference between a torx9 and
torx10 is not even noticable by looking at them, at least with my old eyes.

This.  You need to thoroughly degrease the threads on both parts and use thread locker.

Your solution is M-Lok.

Sorry to point this out, because you'll likely just get angry, but if it's happening to you on everything, it's something you're doing wrong.

Plenty of folks don't have those issues.

I've used a number of keymod accessories - including known cheap shit - and never had that issue despite installing and removing numerous times. You're doing it wrong.

Exactly............

So let me get this straight...........EVERY single keymod item strips or breaks installed by you, but not by 1000s of other people, and its a fault with Keymod?

Ive removed my BCM keymod VFG about 40 times in the last month deciding if I want it on there or not, still just as sturdy as day 1. And I just put 400 rounds through the rifle this past Saturday, nothing wiggled loose

This is why I left Keymod and went with M-LOK.

Keymod was horrible the time I used it.

I would used:

Good parts
blue loctite
good torque

Always came loose eventually.

I had my BCM offset scout mount come loose after shooting maybe 25 rounds, but then I also did not torque it or loctite it down as I was trying to see if that was the location where I wanted it. Once I knew it was good, I applied loctite and torqued it down and have had zero issues with my KMR-A and BCM offset scout mount. Did you not install the recoil lug either? Some items require the use of one, as it acts as the rearward force so it does not move. Other items, such as my BCM KSM (keymod sling mount) do not require it as it has a "lip" built in that prevents rearward travel.

I am not for or against either keymod or mlok, but either system would have the same issues you describe if they did not have a way to prevent travel forward or rearward, like picatinny has.

Thousands of rounds and my KAC scout light mount hasn't moved. I witnessed marked the screws with the wife's nail polish.  No rotation. No loosening.

Fixed it for ya.

Quad Rails never come loose.  Go with a quality one (like Daniel Defense) and they are almost as light weight as anything else.  If it ain't broke...

Funny... My KAC RIS (quad rail) comes loose and wobbles all over the place if you put any sort of pressure on the attached VFG.

I had a keymod rail for a while but ended up selling it as I got tired of my sling mount coming loose. I cleaned the threads, applied blue thread locker, and properly torqued it down but it still came loose. The day my rifle hit the ground because the sling mount popped off was the day I swore off keymod.

I now prefer a simple quad rail. They aren't the latest and greatest but they damn sure work.

I don't torque or loctite my keymod stuff and it hasn't gone anywhere, been using it as is over a year. Sounds like you may have out of spec parts and/or getting way to rough with it.

I've stripped the heads out on about 1/2 the screws on my lasts build.  Had some functioning issues and had the gas block off a couple times so I took the rails loose so I could get to the gas block screws easier.  Two out of four stripped when trying to take them loose.

I made a couple screws first (ground some grade 8 screw heads down to get a tapered head), then I found these on ebay and bought a couple packs to put away for the future.  Hard heads.  No issues.
