I'm considering doing an LMT MRP build. This will be in an SPR-type role, so I'm leaning towards the rifle-length MRP chassis. However, I can't find any complete rifle-length complete MRP rifles, except for the newer SLK8. Everything I've seen online, both on LMT's website and for sale by dealers, is a CQB/carbine-length system. The rifle-length upper is available separately, but not as a complete rifle, safe for the SLK8, which is a smooth-side upper and costs $600 more for the stainless barrel option.
At the same time, the CQB/carbine model looks more versatile and seems to have more options; however, my goal is to run 16" and 18" barrels in an SPR configuration and I'm concerned that the handguard portion of the MRP won't be long enough on the CQB. Here are my questions:

Thanks! LMT makes both a smooth and railed version of the rifle length chassis. Their website shows a 20" barrel on a smooth rifle upper. No downside unless you have to have rail covering as much barrel as possible. There are no alternatives to a factory LMT barrel other than having something converted. |
